There is good news from Ford Australia for the potential customers who are looking to buy the 2016 Ford Kuga precisely because its entry level models are getting technology enhancements.
In November last year when the Kuga was last upgraded for Aussie market, the company added its newer Sync 2 infotainment system and a bigger 8-inch main display to the upper segment Trend and Titanium models. At that time, the entry-level Ambiente had Sync 1 and a smaller 4.2-inch display in the dash.
Recently, it has been confirmed that Ambiente takes up the same technology upgrades that have been bestowed to its more pricey variants, acquiring both Sync 2 and the same 8-inch colour touch screen as standard equipment. This enhancement to the entry level Ford Kuga gets an in-dash rear-view camera, a higher grade of connectivity and voice control with satellite navigation along with traffic monitoring.
The 4.2-inch display in the instrument cluster is also updated, which aids in acquiring more colours, a more thorough overview of vehicle information, and turn-by-turn navigation instructions. Also, the dual-zone climate control will be standard now, which renders individual heating & cooling options for the driver as well as for the front passenger.
Other than this tech upgrades, everything else remains the same. It is powered by a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine that delivers 110kW of power and 240Nm of torque in the front wheel drive variants and 134kW of power and 240Nm of torque in all wheel drive variants. Upper variants Trend and Titanium models render a 178kW of power and 345Nm of torque from a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine.
The enhancements are offered initially as a free upgrade on Ambiente models provided they are ordered prior to the end of June 2016; however, from 1st of July 2016, the price will rise by $1260 across all three Ambiente variants.
Is there anything coming from Ford Kuga in 2017?
Way back in March, Ford revealed a styling and technology upgrade for the Kuga, which in the US is known as the Escape – this will add a fresh new look at both the ends, which will also feature car maker’s all-new Sync 3 infotainment system.
The exact time for this upgrade is not yet been confirmed; nonetheless, in all likelihood, it will make a debut in 2017.
